Organisation
Keilah Community Childcare Uganda (KCCU) is registered Not for profit Non-government organization Working to empower Orphans, needy and other vulnerable children, through Education, Support the Youths and women through self-help skills training to raise house -hold income to become responsible and be self-reliant. We started our work in 2018 operating under mukono municipality and now mandated to extend our support and services to the entire mukono, Wakiso, Kayunga, Buikwe, Jinja, Kamuli And Mayuge Districts.
Peter founded "Keilah Community Childcare Uganda " in 2018 for various reasons. Apart from high poverty levels, a lack of infrastructure and food, medical care and education, other problems plague the communities. Due to the HIV pandemic, many children have lost both parents and are left to fend for themselves. The children are often infected themselves and have to live on the streets. The number of young teenage mothers is also increasing due to lack of education.
Since there is not enough support from the government, the communities are on their own.
Our goal is to educate and make a big difference with even small contributions.
We want to help the children who are vulnerable in the communities and forgotten by the world.

History
Keilah Community Childcare Uganda was founded and established in 2018 by Mr Peter Kiabi who through his life up bringing as an orphan and was himself a street child. made his education not a forth coming dream had it not been the support of various people. This makes him share the fate of many children in Uganda.
It was one day late evening hours, when he encountered with a child of 4years looking for food on the Rubbish pit whichreminded him of the street life times and was moved to find out more about this this child. In consultations with the local leaders, it was found out that this child had no father and the mother was mentally ill and could not afford feeding the family. He resolved to take on this child and started to support her.
The high number of orphan and vulnerable children due to the death of their parents as a result of HIV Pandemic and Children infected with HIV. The increasing number of Teenage mothers who had given birth at early ages of 14 years, high level of Girl child school dropouts due to lack of school fees, dangerous traditions and cultural practices that exposed them to child abuse; child labour, sexual abuse, teenage pregnancies, forced marriages, early marriages and the like.
Its upon this background that Keilah Community Childcare Uganda was started in 2018 and later officially registered in as a Non-government Organization to demonstrate compassion and love of Christ our lord and restoring hope to the needy, Orphans, and Children infected with HIV/ through Education, clothing and Nutrition support. Empower the Teenage mothers through self-help skills to raise housed hold income and become responsible and be self-reliant. Provide accessible and affordable education services, provide accessible Medical services, increase access to sexual and Reproductive Health services to the youth, conserve the environment, hence improvement of livelihood.
Education, Keilah Community school
Our school offers children the chance of education, which the state schools cannot afford. Some children are HIV positive, some have lost their parents, some had to go to work at a young age to feed their family. Each one of the approximately 140 children has its own sad story.
Our school provides the children with lunch and tea in addition to the right to education, as many children have nothing to eat at home.
The organization makes regular home visits to be aware of more children in need and to offer support to the children at home as well.
There are different classes to which the children are divided according to their level of achievement.
Medical center
Our Medical Center idea was initiated with the financial support of a volunteer and is located close to the school. Primarily, it should serve as a medical contact point for our school children, since they usually cannot enjoy regular medical care. In the meantime Mercy (nurse) and Rebecca (nurse and founder) take care of all the people of the community who come there. Children can get all the necessary vaccinations for free. HIV testing, first aid for wounds, family planning, obstetrics and many other basic medical treatments are available to the people here.
We also have a “Nutrition Project”, under this activity we support the HIV+ children, malnourished children enrolled on the program and their siblings with food supplements and also give education about the importance of nutrition.
The clinic is open from 7am to 9pm and Mercy and Rebecca take a lot of time to provide medical education.
Without the Medical Center, many children would not receive medical care because their parents could not afford to go to the nearest hospital.
Youth and Women Empowerment (YAWE)
This programme aims at imparting and empowering Youth and With nonformal and formal skills, self-help skills and entrepreneur skills in the operational area.
One activity is the skills training. Under this we empower Youths, and teenage mothers with skills in tailoring, crafts making (like shoes, necklaces, craft bags and others). This in returns raises hands on skills hence creativity and innovativeness that leads to self-employment hence economic empowerment.
Another activity is empowerment skills. Here, capacities for women are to be created in order to improve their income and create independence.
To this end, we create local women's groups where they can exchange ideas and support each other in order to create a more positive attitude towards life.
The women do microsaving of half a Dollar every week, which is borrowed by the members to boost their small businesses.
